Production Designer

'Appleman' was one of the first projects I worked on as a Production Designer at my university in 2024, a comedy short with a satirical commentary on the presence of the neurodivergent in social settings.

Apple or Man?

'Appleman' is a satire-sodden comedy piece about a man bringing an apple to a bar, convinced it is his friend - an idea the bartender panders to, until they are challenged by a patron of the bar attempting to force the others to acknowledge the absurdity of the situation.
This piece is designed to parallel the awkwardness of social hoops that we all find ourselves jumping in our day to day lives, and paints in a fashion highlighting the true absurdity behind them.

Plasticard Planning

'Appleman' was shot inside of the Poole Hill Brewery in Bournemouth, and as my first real role as a Production Designer I wanted to do as much as I could to make the production run smoothly.

With this in mind, I obtained a copy of the floorplan of the building that I used to create a physical 1/22 scale plasticard model of the building, with model pieces of the bar, backbar and tables.

This was so the director and I could plan which elements of the brewery to move around to create the desired set, before we made any actual movements within the real pub.
